Sweet stuff is sticking in the news

Last month, Pharmacy Professor Navindra Seeram announced some exciting discoveries about the health benefits of maple syrup, and the announcement of his research continues to create quite the buzz. URI scientists in the news

Three faculty members at the Graduate School of Oceanography - Rainer Lohmann, Candace Oviatt and Scott Nixon - were featured in a lengthy story on Voice of America TV last week about the affect of global warming on marine life.  In other recent stories featuring URI scientists, the New York Times reported on the potential for construction of offshore wind power facilities in Rhode Island, including mention of research on the subject by faculty members Scott McWilliams and John King; and reports about the environmental impact of the Rhode Island floods in the Providence Business News and Providence Journal cited the expertise of URI scientists Scott Nixon and Tom Boving.
