Slippery Risks

The human health effects of the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has raised concern of one URI biomedical scientist. Pharmacy Professor Bongsup Cho knows that some of the same cancer-causing chemicals in diesel fumes and cigarette smoke can also be found in the gooey tar balls that are being produced as a result of the spill. He shared his knowledge of some of the risks recently with Providence Eyewitness News and the URI story has been carried by several online media outlets including ScienceDaily.comUPI.com, Examiner.com, DNAIndia and Health Canal.com.
