Disappearing rabbits

A study of rabbits in Rhode Island, led by Prof. Thomas Husband and state biologist Brian Tefft and involving 100 URI students, turned up evidence that the state's native rabbit, the New England cottontail, may be on the verge of disappearing. They have been replaced by the non-native Eastern cottontail. News of the study results spread quickly by the Associated Press and Reuters wire services and in stories in the Providence Journal, EcoRI, GoLocalProv, WRNI and elsewhere.
