Japan earthquake and tsunami

The tsunami that struck Japan and elsewhere following the deadly earthquake this week put URI experts on the front lines with the media. Ocean engineering professor Stephan Grilli, a leading expert on tsunamis, was interviewed live on CNN and CNN International, as well as on Channel 10 twice. He was also featured on WPRO and WRNI radio and in the Providence Journal. The latter story also featured earthquake expert Yang Shen, a professor at the Graduate School of Oceanography. Channel 10, WPRO, Westwood One radio and the South County Independent also interviewed mechanical engineering professor Bahram Nassersharif to discuss concerns about Japan's damaged nuclear power plants, and USA Today featured comments by history professor Tim George, who teaches modern Japanese history.
