Alumnus named commander of the Rhode Island National Guard

The University was included in coverage about Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee's appointment of alumnus Major General Kevin McBride as the Adjutant General of the State of Rhode Island and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard. The news appeared in print and online media of the Providence Journal, GoLocalProv, EastBayRI, the Boston Globe, as well as on regional broadcast media. McBride graduated from URI in 1980 with a degree in civil and environmental engineering, and he received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). He also earned a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in 2000. Link to read the URI Today article
