Gardening with the Masters

The URI Master Gardeners opened their gardens to public tours last weekend, and the Rhode Island media provided the event with considerable attention. Multiple stories appeared in the Providence Journal, as well as in the Westerly Sun, South County Independent, the South Kingstown Patch and Newport Patch.

A regional soccer hub

The University of Rhode Island is fast becoming a regional hub for big-time soccer, and with all the attention on the Women's World Cup this week, many media outlets have picked up on the link. The Providence Journal ran a feature about the U.S. Olympic Development Team that practices here in the summer, and several news reports noted that the team watched the World Cup matches from the Ryan Center, including USA Today and Channel 10. In addition, an Associated Press story about the huge Seaside Classic youth soccer tournament that took place on campus last week was carried by the Boston Globe and dozens of other publications.
