$14 million health care grant

It was standing-room only at a press conference announcing a $14 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to Associate Research Professor Elaina Goldstein for a project that will improve care and lower costs for cognitively challenged adults with chronic diseases.  In attendance were most of the state's leading lawmakers, as well as almost all of the news media that cover Rhode Island.  Among those reporting on the story at the event were Channel 10, Channel 12, WRNI radio, Providence Business News, Warwick BeaconNew England Cable News, and the Associated Press, whose story appeared in dozens of media outlets from the Boston Globe to the San Francisco Chronicle. More in-depth coverage appeared in the Providence Business News, July 30 and in one item "URI in push for coordinated care," August 4, and a Five Questions piece. The URI press release about the grant can be found here.
