Tracking ducks for wind farms

Professors Scott McWilliams and Peter Paton, along with graduate student Josh Buesse and several wildlife agencies, are tracking sea ducks in an effort to identify their preferred wintering locations off the Rhode Island coast and help wind farm developers determine where not to build wind towers. Their research generated considerable media attention this week from Channel 12, the Providence Journal, EcoRI, WRNI radio, Boston Globe, and many others.

Castaway lizards and evolution

New biology professor Jason Kolbe received international attention this month for his study about lizards and evolution, which appeared in the journal Science. His work was reported by the Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Huffington Post, Arizona Star, United Press International, Live Science, the Seattle Times, the London Daily Mail, MSNBC and more.
