Economics and Health. Opinion pieces by URI emeritus professors Richard Vangermeersch (accounting) and Maury Klein (history) were  both published in the Nov. 4 issue of The Providence Journal. In "Don’t make us flee Rhode Island," Prof. Vangermeersch describes the "economic consequences of retiring with Rhode Island as your tax home."

In his article, "Health-care reform is hardly radical innovation," Prof. Klein retraces the historical roots of national health care. In the end, he says "The Affordable Care Act deserves time to prove itself as well. It is not some radical program dropped from the clouds but the most recent stage of a fight that spans nearly a century."
