URI Opens New Door to Business

The well-attended launch of the University's new Business Engagement Center was covered by members of the regional media and featured on the front page of the Providence Journal on Sept. 6., with the headline "Schooled in Business."  The Providence Business NewsWPRI Channel 12, WJAR Channel 10 (a brief piece at 5 p.m. and full coverage at 6 and 7 p.m.), Buddy Cianci interviewed President David M. Dooley, and other broadcast media featured the event and described the new services available to businesses. As a result of Associated Press coverage, the news also appeared in The, Anchorage Daily News and other online media. The new Center’s mission is to enhance industry competitiveness, create jobs, conduct mutually beneficial research, and create a highly trained workforce. Oceanographer named to science advisory post

Oceanography Professor S. Bradley Moran has been appointed to serve as the assistant director for ocean sciences in the White House office of Science and Technology Policy. The announcement of his appointment resulted in coverage by the Providence Journal and an Associated Press story that appeared in news outlets throughout the country.  In addition, the Consortium for Ocean Leadership also reported on the news.  The URI news release about the announcement can be found here.
