Putin's "On his game"

Providence Journal, 9/23/2013
Vladimir Putin is “on top of his game," says URI Political Science Professor Nicolai N. Petro after seeing the Russian leader field questions from politicians and journalists for nearly three hours after a speech in which he touted Russia's global status. Petro was invited to attend the weeklong Valdai Discussion Club conference in Russia that is held with Putin and other world leaders. On Monday, Sept. 23, The Providence Journal included a piece from the University's Q&A with Petro and linked to the full article on the University's news website. A scholar of Russian politics and culture, Petro is living in Odessa, Ukraine, for a year after receiving a Fulbright grant to research the role of the Russian Orthodox Church. Lardaro on the economy

Economics Professor Leonard Lardaro is often sought out by local reporters to comment on the health of the economy, and this past week is a perfect example.  First, his monthly Current Conditions Index was featured in the Providence Business NewsProvidence Journal, and Rhode Island Public Radio.  Later he was quoted in stories about the poverty rate in the Providence Journal and WPRO radio, and then in a Rhode Island Public Radio commentary piece and a Providence Journal story about the state's unemployment rate.
