Subterranean life

Oceanography Professor Steven D'Hondt, along with postdoc John Kirkpatrick and grad student Emily Walsh, are in San Francisco this week presenting the results of recent research at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Their study of microbial life living deep beneath the seafloor -- and its implications for finding life on Mars -- has generated interest from a variety of media, including Science Now magazine and the Associated Press, whose story appeared in the Boston Globe and the Connecticut Post.  The URI news release about their research can be found here.
