Medical clinics and health care costs

A study conducted by Professor Annie De Groot found that nurse-run medical clinics can save millions of dollars in health care costs by serving patients who might otherwise go to hospital emergency rooms.    Financial news website The Street reported on the study and syndicated the story to more than two dozen other media outlets, including the West Hartford News, Litchfield County Times, Leavenworth Times, Carthage Press, Trentonian, Housatonic Times, Harrisburg Daily Register, Nebraska City News, Lorrain Morning Journal and many others.  The URI news release about the study can be found here.

Wind turbines and house prices

A study conducted by Assistant Professor Corey Lang in the Department of Environmental and Natural Resource Economics found that wind turbines in Rhode Island do not negatively effect property values.  Numerous media outlets reported on the results of his study, including the Providence Journal, Providence Business News, GoLocalProv, North American Windpower, and the Associated Press, whose story was included on the Huffington Post, CNBC, BusinessWeek, New England Cable News, and elsewhere.  The URI news release about the study can be found here.
