Students Paws for Fun: A group of therapy and search-and-rescue dogs visited the University ofRhode Island Kingston campus on Monday to interact with students as a way to reduce stress before final exams. Providence Career and Technical Academy offers RI's first high school pre-engineering

It's a pre-engineering course taught by a doctoral engineering student and developed by a professor of engineering at theUniversity of Rhode Island. URI professor Manibir Sodhi is the man behind the pre-engineering curriculum. He retooled his online course in practical engineering so it was suitable for high school students.

Experts in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses are meeting next weekend in one of the nation’s Lyme hot spots — Rhode Island. For 20 years, the University of Rhode Island's Tick Encounter Resource Center has been sweeping the woods at 60 sites around the state .. Last year, the center found more ticks than ever before. Its director, Thomas Mather, is among the conference speakers. He will be talking about progress toward a vaccine against tick-borne illnesses.
