Fisheries Institute, Ukraine uprising, events

The new Rhode Island Marine Fisheries Institute, a research partnership between URI and the R.I. Department of Environmental Management, was announced this week and generated attention in the Providence Journal, Narragansett Times and Cranston Herald

The uprising in the Ukraine, where Prof. Nicolai Petro remains on a Fulbright research award, continues to put him in the media spotlight.  He was interviewed this week on National Public Radio's program "The Takeaway," as well as on The Real News Network, and he published an commentary article on the National Interest.

Chemistry groundbreaking, fisheries institute
